Tiger Paws Stripe Challenge

Tiger Paws Stripe Challenge

On February 25th, our Tiger Paws class of students aged 3-5 years old gathered for the Tiger Paws Stripe Challenge.  This challenge happens every few months and is the precursor to them being awarded their “stripes”.  The stripes are black bands attached to the tips of their belt to indicate their level of achievement.  The challenge gives them the chance to demonstrate what they have learned to their instructor and gives their parents the opportunity to come into the dojang and take part in their training.

We invited some higher ranking students from 8 – 12 years old to come in to help keep score as the Tiger Paws started their challenge.  They focused on exercises including jumping jacks, sit-ups and push-ups and then went into their TaeKwon-Do techniques.

Everyone did a great job demonstrating their TaeKwon-Do skills. Kicks, punches and blocks were all part of the challenge as every student was challenged to perform 20 low blocks, rising blocks, front punches, knife-hand strikes, front kicks, turning kicks, and side kicks.  Some theory was added as well to test their knowledge.
