Copies of these rules are available on the CTFI web site. \nSpecial additions to these rules are as listed below. \nPatterns\nColoured Belt Patterns\nCompetitors may perform the pattern of their rank or the pattern immediately below their current rank to accommodate recently promoted students. Coloured Belts may not perform any pattern above that of their current rank.  \nIndividual Junior and Senior Black Belt Patterns\nCompetitors will compete 1 to 1 and will perform simultaneously two (2) Designated Patterns appropriate to their degree. The first designated pattern will be the third of the last three patterns regarding the level of degree. The second designated pattern is from pattern Chon-Ji to the level of degree. \nIndividual Pre-Junior and Super Senior Black Belt Patterns\nFor elimination rounds\, competitors will compete 1 to 1 and will perform simultaneously one (1) Designated Pattern appropriate to their degree. For Finals to determine Gold and Silver\, competitors will compete 1 to 1 and will perform simultaneously two (2) Designated Patterns appropriate to their degree. The first designated pattern will be the third of the last three patterns regarding the level of degree. The second designated pattern is from pattern Chon-Ji to the level of degree. \nFree Sparring\nDuration of Rounds\n\nColoured Belts – 1 round of 2 minutes;\nBlack Belts under 14 – 2 rounds of 1.5 minutes each;\nBlack Belts 14-35 – 2 rounds of 2 minutes;\nBlack Belts 36+ – 2 rounds of 1.5 minutes each.\n\nSafety Equipment\nMandatory Safety equipment: \n\nHand\, Foot and Head guards of an approved type (see below);\nMouth guard;\nGroin protection for all males (must be worn inside the trousers).\n\nOptional Safety equipment: \n\nShin protectors of an approved type (no hard materials);\nGroin protection or chest protection for females.\n\nWeight Verification\nThe current ITF Free Sparring weight divisions will not be used. Instead\, Black Belts will be grouped into two to four weight classes depending on the number registered and the weight distribution. All Black Belts\, all ages\, including Pre-Juniors and Super Seniors\, who are competing in Free Sparring must have their weight verified at the weigh-ins prior to 2017 ITF Taekwon-Do BC Cup competing. Weigh-in procedure will follow ITF World Junior/Senior Championships procedures. All Black Belts must be within +/- 3kg of their stated weight or they will be disqualified from Free Sparring with no refund of any registration fee. \nWeight checks will be available: \n\nFriday\, May 5th from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the host hotel; and\nSaturday\, May 6th from 8:00AM to 9:00AM at the venue.\n\nCompetitors are encouraged to weigh-in on Friday night so they don’t get caught in the crush on Saturday morning. \n

The course dates are January 23 and January 24\, 2016. It will be conducted by Master Alberto Katz – ITF Umpire Committee Chairman\, Master Ruben Suarez and Master Kurt Ottesen – ITF Umpire Committee members as well as special guest instructor Grand Master Wim Bos. \nThe 2016 QIUC will be held at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport Hotel. The course is open to all Black Belts. As an added bonus all 3rd degrees who complete the QIUC may request the ITF Official Umpire “A” status at the date they are promoted to 4th degree. We hope to see nearly 400 competitors from across Canada\, the USA and the many Caribbean islands that have ITF Taekwon-Do schools. \nColour Belts all ages and Black Belts under age 14 will compete for medals in Patterns and Free Sparring categories. Black Belts age 14+ can also compete in Power Breaking or Special Technique Breaking as well as the Team Patterns\, Team Sparring and Pre-arranged Sparring events. \nBecause this event is taking the place of the usual CTFI National Championships\, Black Belts competing at this event will be awarded seeding points based on their finish which will add to their total towards winning a spot on the Canadian team going to the 2017 World Championships (slated for either Ireland or Slovenia)! \nSource: Triumph TaeKwon-Do
